Teign School in Kingsteighton is part of the Education South West group of schools. LHC had previously designed and delivered a successful Science Centre for another member of the group, Kingsbridge Community College, so we were delighted to be invited to design a new Science Centre at Teign School when funding was secured.
At Teign School the budget was of paramount consideration and the building has been designed to be area and cost efficient, yet replicating the success of the KCC Science Centre. The project has been submitted for planning approval.
New laboratories, a classroom and circulation space, together with full-height glazing which delivers light deep into the building, will provide a welcoming and contemporary specialist addition to the Teign School campus.
The building is designed to stand out from the other buildings on the campus and be inspirational for students wanting to follow the sciences. The laboratories will be bright and offer state-of-the-art facilities for Biology, Physics and Chemistry. It has been designed to be easily extended, so that in the future, all labs within the school will be housed in the same building.
