Welcome to Maria Vierma, LHC’s new Associate Urban Design Director

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Maria Vierma, who joins the team in the Exeter studio as Associate Urban Design Director.

Maria joins LHC from the Bristol office of urban design and planning specialists Barton Willmore. She brings with her a wide experience in large and small scale residential masterplanning, and mixed-use developments, undertaken across the UK. Her primary interest is in creating public spaces that work not only aesthetically but socially and economically, and she has particular expertise in creating strong, site-specific design concepts and crafting innovative responses to difficult design challenges.

Director of LHC Design, Paul Osborne said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Maria and feel fortunate that she has agreed to join LHC Design. She brings with her a fantastic range of skills which compliment those we already have and add extra capacity at a senior level to our busy urban design team.”

Maria’s work prior to joining LHC included the Design Guide for a mixed-use development on a redundant factory site in Keynsham for 700 dwellings, employment, school, care home and local centre; the lead role in an extensive community design collaboration to inform the masterplan for an 8000 dwelling, mixed-use extension to Taunton; and lead masterplanner for a proposed new settlement on the edge of York.
