An innovative, new build student residential scheme on the edge of Falmouth town. Situated to the northern-edge of the site, the scheme maximises the space between the building and a steep railway escarpment. The scale was carefully considered and designed to sit below the tree canopy with an ecological diverse brown roof, allowing the integrity of the green layers of trees and shrubs rising up the Headland to remain intact.
5,000 sq m
Designed to take advantage of panoramic sea views, the block includes 146 self-contained studio apartments with balconies. Two large communal areas were included to foster a community feel throughout the scheme. An innovative tunnel-form build method allowed the contractor to erect the 5 upper floors within 6 months providing a considerable programme saving over a traditional in-situ concrete frame.
