September 2009 – Shakespeare Primary School, Plymouth completes

Shakespeare Primary School in Honicknowle, Plymouth is the third of the three PFI Schools in Plymouth to be designed by LHC Architects, with CDM-C services provided by LHC Safety Management.

Placing a new building on a sensitive green-field site was the challenge faced in providing new premises for the amalgamation of two existing Primary schools.

Working closely with staff a ‘universal model' which had been developed for LHC's other two Plymouth PFI Schools, comprising a single storey teaching wing and double height hall,  was remodelled to provide a Nursery and Reception space tailored to meet their specific teaching methods.

Headteacher, Karen Menis commented "The quality of the partnership has enhanced the overall impact of our ‘state of the art' buildings, designed and built for the needs of our school family. 

"This has been achieved through much discussion, time and paying attention to the many details, that together have created a stunning learning environment, inside and out, for our community."
