We smashed out fundraising target for Routeways

LHC Design has been raising money all year for Plymouth-based charity Routeways.

We aimed to raise a few thousand pounds to buy new kit for the charity’s Adventure Activity Breaks for disabled children. We actually raised over £4500 thanks to the outstanding generosity of clients, friends and family, who sponsored the team’s Dartmoor Challenge event in September.

With a tough cross-Dartmoor trek, an office lottery, monthly charity lunches and regular cake sales, over 40 LHC staff in studios in Plymouth and Exeter have smashed our target and last year’s fundraising record.

Routeways is an important charity for Plymouth and has been operating in the city for over 20 years. Staff deliver a wide range of targeted services for children and families who are at risk of social exclusion, helping them to overcome disadvantage.

LHC Design felt a particular affinity with the charity’s Adventure Activity Breaks. The company has a track record of fundraising by taking on adventurous, but inclusive, outdoor challenges. They encourage as many staff as possible to take part and to step out of their comfort zone.

Graham Devine, Director at LHC Design, and based in Plymouth said,

‘There is a huge attraction in helping adventurous young people take part in daring, fun activities that perhaps they wouldn’t normally experience. We were over the moon to have been able to hand over this cheque today and look forward to seeing the new kit.’

Mark Collings, Chief Executive, Routeways commented,

‘We’ve been bowled over by the level of enthusiasm for our kit project at LHC.

‘Activity Breaks is one of a range of services that Routeways provides for Plymouth, including employment support for young people, after-school groups for under 8s, parent and toddler support, groups for children with mental health issues, holiday clubs and education for homeless children.’
