Welcoming four new staff to LHC

We’re pleased to announce four brand new appointments, reflecting an upsurge in business across all disciplines in recent months, and bringing the number of staff to 43 across our two studios.

The architecture team has welcomed Kate Sammons as Project Architect, Matt Taylor as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant and John Scanes as Architectural Technologist.  LHC’s urban design team has been strengthened with the addition of Helen Allen who joins part-time as Urban Designer and Landscape Architect.

Architect, Kate Sammons joins LHC from another local architecture firm and gained her full qualification two years ago from the University of Bath. She has wide experience in the residential sector, from small scale developments to one-off high-end housing, conversions and refurbishments, listed buildings and Later Living schemes. Kate is from Devon and is a keen artist, particularly of the south west coastline. She also loves backpacking, especially in Africa where she’s had a number of adventures.

Part 2 Architectural Assistant Matt Taylor gained his architectural degree and Masters at Plymouth University, where he was particularly interested in sustainable and alternative community buildings. He has experience of residential design, listed structures, working in Cornwall, and within conservation areas and AONBs. He recently spent time in Macau, Asia looking at flood resistant structures and is another keen artist.

Urban Designer and Landscape Architect, Helen Allen, retrained as a Landscape Architect, after spending 15 years as an NRAC Approved Access Consultant. She wanted to combine her passion for the environment, sustainability and creating inspirational and accessible places. Helen has extensive experience of pan-disability inclusive design and brings this expertise to her landscapes.  She has been a key contributor to several BSI publications on inclusive and accessible design. Helen is also a passionate sailor and printmaker and exhibits in London and Devon.

LHC Director, Paul Osborne said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Kate, John, Matt and Helen to LHC. All four bring with them fantastic skills which will compliment those we already have in the team and add extra capacity to our busy studio. We’ve already got them in training for our summer charity challenge!”

Meanwhile LHC has bid a temporary farewell to intrepid architect, Hugo Davies, who has begun his epic cycle ride to India. With luck and a following wind he should return in the autumn.
