Public consultation on Chard homes proposals

A public consultation event is to be held at the Lordleaze Hotel, Henderson Drive, Chard on Wednesday 23rd May 4.00pm – 7.00pm, to invite feedback from the local community on the proposed housing development at Tatworth Road, Chard.

See below to view the information panels from the event and to take part in the survey.

The site already benefits from outline planning permission for residential development, previously granted August 2017, and as such the principle of development is already established. The Reserved Matters application will provide details of the layout, landscaping, appearance and scale of the proposal.

Kier Living South West, who are developing the site, was established in 2011 and has since grown year on year to now become one of the largest house builders by volume of numbers in South West, specialising in new build, affordable housing and open market schemes from one bedroom apartments to luxury five bedroom houses.

The site layout has been carefully developed with regard to the character of the surrounding area and the site constraints. The scheme will provide 200 dwellings, with a range of houses to meet the identified local need. The development will bring forward 70 affordable homes for Chard along with financial contributions in the region of £2.6 million which will support education and sports facilities, as well as making contributions to local play facilities.

The feedback gathered at the exhibition will be used to help shape the design of the development before a planning application is submitted to South Somerset District Council.
